Assam Laksa .

This stall was in existence as long as we staying in the vicinity, could re-call.

The operator had sprouted grey hairs by now. Sure he should know how good Laksa should taste like.

 

His specialty is the thick soup of minced fish meat. Many jealous and unkind souls rumored it as "grounded" tissue papers.

The niche lies not only with the fish soup but the good flavor of the overall concoctions. This stall is located outside the wet market, closed after the morning session. The location?, immediately at a bend after the Ayer Itam bus terminal.

This is the operator, and the price is back to normal of Rgt 2.00 per serving instead of Rgt 2.30 - the last time you tried it during the Lunar New Year holiday seasons.

There are customers who would come for the soup! They only request for the soup and vegetables - minus the noodles.

Typical of Assam Laksa - hot boiling soup. Then the vegetables- yes! mixture of mint leaves and lettuce.

 

The bowls displayed at this stall is frighteningly plentiful.

To speak of its turn over at peak time, usually on most Sundays.

Urban folks and tourist will packed all available open space around the market.

The stall opens just after noon. Remains open until midnight. It's available right into the night too.

This stall has been in business for a few years now. As the craze to look for alternatives intensified, this stall caught the attention of many. Furthermore the idea of taking the road over the Balik Pulau Hills sound thrilling for many. Those who are out for a joy ride.

After all have been said, the taste from this stall is approving. Clear taste of fish and assam minus the residue.

The stall opens for business just before noon, when activities at the wet market subside.

He is quite easy to locate, in front of the market. A town where the parking lots are located in the center. of the road At one point of the car park, there the right turn. This is the road for that hilly road to go east.

The laksa stall in the meantime is located at the end of this row of parking lot.

It is prominently positioned. By the looks in this picture, the operator has cleverly prepared the noodles in bowls. They are then stacked up "Mountain" high. In anticipation of some surge that was to take place any time then!

The Penang Road - Assam Laksa
 

Mint leaves seen in this picture are the pivotal ingredient to making the Assam Laksa unique. This stall has lavish supply of fresh mints. Follow through in sparing no efforts in providing the right amount with each bowl.

 

Deliberately or unintentional , workers of the stall owners will prepare the fish meat and mint leaves on site. It does gives the impression that lavish supply of the basic and critical ingredients are authentic. Freshly prepared and done on site!

Here the left over scrap of fish bones is a sure reassuring signs. Earlier, the fish meat were then squashed and added into the boiling soup.

This stall is located opposite the ex- Police Contingent of Penang. Nearer to the X-road junction with Burma and Prangin Road. If you know where the "Boston Cafe'" was, then it is on the same block, and the last shop house.

It has rented a space from the coffee shop. An easy landmark to locate the stall. Remember the Penang Road chendol. They are placed side by side!

Unlike other stalls mentioned, the lady here takes extra time to prepare each bowl, making sure that the soup is hot.

This stall is opened for business to serve afternoon crowd.
