| One stall in Penang stands
out as the leader for years and still remain unchallenged. This is the one downtown
near to the Ferry pier.
|
 |
Where
is the exact location of the shop ? It has shifted from its old
shop lot in the side lane, for those of you who knows where it was!
Now it stands on Pengkalan Weld directly opposite the Ferry
terminal. On the other side of the road over the divider.
 |
The name of the shop, most of the
time unheard off, preceded and shadowed by it reputation. |
| The current prices for some time
now - somewhat a niche by Penang Standard |
 |
Having tasted the
other stalls around the country and also their value, there are really very
mixed opinions about the place. For this assignment, I took the trouble to try
it out again, I must say that the taste of their soup cannot be matched. Perhaps that is
the niche.
 |
The stall owner continue to
publicize his specialty. That is - stripping the tendons
off the calf and heels and carefully supplying adequate
for each helpings. |
Alternatives
-Apart from
this familiar stall, there are not many other stalls around the
island, leave alone acquiring any reputation.
This
is a special dishes that appeals to a narrow market. If there is
a real need to compare, then you have to get out of Penang to
other states to seek out their taste there. Some better known
stalls around the country, hyperlinks with their sites will be
gradually added.
