Fish porridge for breakfast

Between Petaling Street and High Street is  Cecil street

What type of food?

Breakfast

This stall specializes in raw fish meat in freshly boiled porridge.

As a side dish, you could also have your porridge complimented with minced meat and pig lever. Other add-on are raw eggs and fried Yew Char Koay.

Fish meat could be served to you raw sprinkled with condiments and oil. Or, they could dip the fish meat into the porridge for a slight cook before serving the mixture to you.

Who goes there?

Locals who needed a good breakfast at 6.30 am. Healthier prepared food with little oil. Tourist who pass by the stalls and those who have heard about the place.

What do I think?

There are few stalls if I could remembered any that serve this type of porridge. Their close competitor is another stall directly opposite. Offering pre-cooked peanuts, oyster's based porridge at Rgt 3.50. Half the price. This stall offered plain instantly cooked porridge. the meat are added upon request. If you just order the porridge with meat as basic, and without side order, then it would be a good breakfast. Service is very good.

How to get there

Very simple. There would be Petaling Street & Foch Avenue. Walking down, depends on which way. From Foch avenue and into Petaling Street, the first street corner on your left. Be there from 6.30 till about 9.30 am. After that time, the street's vendors would filled the whole vicinity. The ambience would be lost.

The story behind

When you are up and around in the wee hours. Everyone is still sleeping. But you can also catch a glimpse of what the town can offer. There would be the Tim Sum shops that open before 6.00 am and this Porridge stall.

What would I recommend?

As I have said earlier, stay with the basic porridge to get your money's worth. However if you are new to the place and like to experience what this joint can offer, then why not?
