Tiger Shark for the offerings

In the original settlement, the "old town" of Sekinchan town. A coastal town in the northern part of Selangor

What type of food?

This is the place of home cooking -Hokkien style

It purportedly serve seafood and in fact known as a seafood restaurant. You can read Chinese? Another one of those by the seas. But this one was picked, because of it special preparation. Shark meat.

Black tip dorsal fin shark.

You could go in, order your favorite seafood meals or noodles.

Who goes there?

The locals come here for their special meals. Some reasons or events to celebrate. Otherwise patrons from out of town deliberately make their way there for the ambience. So their clientele was shifting, from locals to outsider. The locals now opt for the shop beside the association.

What do I think?

Yes, the preparation were unique, in the sense that Shark meat was used. The dishes came in two style. Stir fried with green onions/ ginger and another in the form of fillet in a soup. Both were equally unusual in sight and taste. They also had another dish of small shrimps stir fried with dry pounded chili.

The preparation were unusual but don't expect anything extraordinary. After all, Chinese cooking may taste alike in many ways. Only differences lies in the exquisite taste that some chefs could bring out. More important here, people like us who is constantly on a look out for some cooking that is out of the normal would welcome that niche. It is worth the visit of having been there and having tasted the cooking. Let's put it this way. If the restaurant was near my house and at the price that they are charging, then I would put this outlet high on my preference list. But driving close to 100 kilometers one way for some special taste, I would do that just to show my fiends the place.

How to get there

After Tanjong Karang town, proceed north to Sekinchan.

Once you could feel that you are seeing more houses and shop lots, there should be a traffic light. Turning right is going into what seems like Sekinchan town. But taking the turn, is like going into the marshes again.

Take the left turn any way. Once there some 150 meters down the road, activities should start. Then about 250 meters, there should be a "T" junction. At the junction look towards 2 O'clock. That's the restaurant.

No big deal. Except make your way to Sekinchan

The story behind

The whole stretch of coastal road in Selangor would be scattered with Seafood Restaurants. Not very close to one another but plenty. So everyone would be telling you names. More likely names that do not makes sense. The name of the town where the restaurant purportedly are near sound familiar. Just can't figure out where that place should be! Do not crack your head. You are not expected to be a master in geography.

Same here. The name Sekinchan keeps appearing in my conversations with friends. It does not impress me. There are still lots and lots of places I have yet to visit. Not until one day, some one mention "Shark" Have taken lots of Shark Fins' soup, but not shark's meats.

Must be something unusual. So I went.

What would I recommend?

As mentioned earlier, stick with dishes that involve Shark meat. Anyway, there are only 2, as far as my experiences go. Then the shrimp with chili. The restaurant also serves a good varieties of Seafood. Starting off, with Fish meat in various styles. I do not have any Do's & Don't.

Have not heard any point adverse about the place. I would rate the taste as "good" and prices "reasonable".

The place as I said earlier was then patronized more by out of town visitors. Having also tried the one popular with the locals, I do not detect any significant difference in prices or size of servings.
